The Camp was officially opened by former Arch Bishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey of Clifton. Lord Carey has been supporting St Madoc as a Patron.
Amongst many other guests was the Mayor of Swansea, Councillor Gareth Sullivan and Mrs Sullivan. The Mayor unveiled a plaque showing the financial supporters of the project and he spoke about his pleasure at being at the opening.
Other speakers included Stuart McGlashan secretary of trustees and Clive Bennett, chair of trustees, who spoke about the history of St Madoc and future plans.

One of the highlights of the morning was the performance of Mal Pope, the well known singer, songwriter from Swansea. Mal performed two songs that had been inspired by his visits to St Madoc. He has kindly allowed the songs to be put together on a three-song album available exclusively from the camp. Click here if you would like a copy
The afternoon was focused on youth and many young people came fom various parts of South Wales. Unfortunately the bad weather prevented a number of activities but those who attended enjoyed a number of activities including Combat Ball, Mountain Boarding and Frisbee Golf.
The day finished with a Celebration evening, which seemed a perfect way to end a busy day.
