Started in 1945, St Madoc has been impacting young people's lives for over sixty years.
In 1945 W. F. Burr, a Swansea businessman and dignitary, formed the St Madoc Christian Youth Camp Charitable Trust.

Mr Burr, a resident of the village of Llanmadoc, envisaged utilising 76 acres of glorious Gower coastline as a place of refuge, personal growth, education and fun for the youth of the Swansea area. He set about converting farm buildings, as well as building new buildings, to form what is today, St Madoc Christian Youth Camp.
As the camp was initially opened during the Second World War, the buildings were, for a short time, occupied by Air Force pilots who were recuperating following extensive injury.
So great was the negative impact of the Second World War on the lives of young people in Swansea, the chapel at St Madoc was opened with the following words being spoken;
"While lives were being shattered this place was given of healing for the soul."
For the last 62 years, St Madoc has provided,
“time and space for exploration and growth,” for countless individuals and charitable groups. St Madoc CYC is a very special place, not just because of its unique and beautiful location, but also because it so positively affects the lives of many disadvantaged children who have little, if any, exposure to such a unique environment.
